Poland tells Gazprom of intent to terminate gas deal after 2022

WARSAW, Nov 15 (PRIME) -- Polish oil and gas company PGNiG has filed a notification of intent not to prolong a gas purchase contract expiring at the end of 2022 with Russian gas giant Gazprom, the company said in a statement on Friday.

“PGNiG has handed to Gazprom a notification of intent to terminate the natural gas purchase contract by Poland, the so-called Yamal contract, on December 31, 2022,” the company said.

Imports of Russian gas by Poland fell 6.4% to about 9.04 billion cubic meters (bcm) in 2018.

PGNiG has recently signed a several long-term LNG contract with U.S. Cheniere Marketing for 0.52 tonnes of LNG annually between 2019 and 2022, and with Venture Global LNG for 2 million tonnes of LNG for 20 years.
